Episode Review: Glee - Sexy
So after watching this past episode of Glee I felt the need to write down some of my thoughts about how the story/characters are developing.
This episode was once again proof that the “supporting” characters have so much more depth than the main cast and that their stories have a lot more potential.
Overview:
Emma’s storyline: I still can’t help but sympathize for the poor woman. When Carl was shown in the episode, I got really happy because I felt that Carl and Emma had good chemistry and knew how to balance each other. Then they dropped that bomb. And quite frankly, I don’t think Emma and Will should be together. In general, Will as a character seems far too selfish and no matter how much he says he’s a sensitive person, time and time again he’s proven he is too impatient and doesn’t know how to treat Emma right. This is a lesson I think she needs to learn and truly get past loving Will. Bottom line: I’ll be pissed if they get those two together.
Will’s storyline: Boring, boring, boring. I just can’t find any redeeming qualities about this character. The only time I ever find him engaging is when he’s arguing with Sue (all that’s only because her character is hilarious) and the moments he has with Beiste (and that’s because she’s awesome!).
Santana’s storyline: AMAZING! This along with the Kurt-Burt segment of the show is what kept me watching. Seeing Santana so vulnerable and bare truly made me fall in love the character. I already liked her for her sassy attitude, but seeing this other side of her just added more depth to an already three-dimensional character. I’m not going to lie, I totally cried during her confession.
Kurt’s storyline: AMAZING! I just wanted to give him a hug and tell him it’s ok. Where the other characters’ ignorance was used for laughs, Kurt’s naivete was endearing and honest. I really want him to find someone that will treat him right. Whether or not it’ll be Blaine is something I’m waiting to see. I think it’s safe to assume there are more than just 3 gay guys in this entire town. Maybe Kurt hasn’t met the guy for him yet. Also, the way Burt handled the entire situation was so beautiful. Obviously I acknowledge the awkward element, but his sincerity when speaking to his son warmed my heart. This is one of my favorite father-son relationships on television.
Quinn/Finn storyline: Again, another bore. At this point their relationship seems very forced and especially in this episode, the storyline was kind of just thrown in. It has already been shown, this relationship can’t work. Ok, you’re high school students and you’re horny, but put the hormones and the need for popularity aside and move on already. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I think Finn should be with Rachel and Quinn with Sam. Honestly, I don’t think those relationships work either. For now, they either have to find them some other people to date or have them take a breather from dating/hooking up with someone.
Puck/Lauren storyline: I like these two together. I’m not sure it’s really going to last, but their banter is always entertaining to watch.
Of course I’ll keep watching, but I’m growing tired of Will/Emma and Quinn/Finn storylines. There are plenty of people in the world, these couples do not need to happen.
